Three sizes, three kinds of day

Group size narrows the choice fastest: up to five guests on the 32–36 footers, six on the 42–45 footers and eight on the four 50-footers. After that it comes down to deck layout, cabin comfort and the electronics you care about. Two of the boats, Dream II and “Los Sueños”, are Luhrs that sail alongside the Maverick boats.

Good to know

Fishing from Los Sueños Marina

All twelve boats leave from Los Sueños Marina in Playa Herradura, about five minutes from Jacó and roughly an hour and a half from San José airport. Your confirmation includes the dock and meeting time.

From the marina, blue water is a short run, so a full day gives you most of your time fishing rather than travelling.

  • Offshore: sailfish, marlin, yellowfin tuna and mahi-mahi.
  • Inshore: roosterfish, snapper and other coastal species.
  • Billfish are released, and every angler needs a Costa Rica fishing license.
  • Food, drinks, license, taxes and crew tip are spelled out in your quote.

Questions

Maverick charter FAQ

Dream II, “Los Sueños”, Super Fly, Tiger Fly, Pacific Fly and Geaux Fly are quoted on request (see the price table). Rates can change, so we confirm your total before you book.

Which boat fits my group?

Four guests: Dream II. Five: “Los Sueños” or Super Fly. Six: Tiger Fly, Pacific Fly, Geaux Fly, Tropic Fly or Trophy Fly. Eight: Open Fly, Sea Fly, Satis Fly or Southern Fly. We confirm the allowed passenger count when you book.

Which boats have a Seakeeper or Omni sonar?

Tropic Fly and Trophy Fly have both. Sea Fly has a Seakeeper. Super Fly and Southern Fly list Omni sonar. Equipment is confirmed with your quote.

Where do the boats leave from?

Los Sueños Marina in Playa Herradura, about five minutes from Jacó (more about the marina). Exact meeting details come with your confirmation.

Can we fish inshore as well as offshore?

Yes, depending on the boat and the day. Tell us if you are after sailfish, marlin and tuna offshore, or roosterfish and snapper closer to shore, and we will suggest the right boat and plan. Ask us here.
